Annual Commemoration of the Slavery Past

Since 2005, the abolition of slavery has been commemorated and celebrated annually at the Zeeland Slavery Monument in Middelburg.

The site of the monument, the Balans, was at the time of slavery the center of the Middelburgsche Commercie Compagnie's business operations. For nearly 20 years, Keti Koti Zeeland has been organized around this Zeeland Slavery Monument.
